Whether you're in the mood for a picnic or a road trip, you'll definitely need to pack a bunch of essentials for your pet. Read on to know more.

Daydreaming about traveling and having some fun? As the cold winter months in the UAE begin, your wanderlust and natural sense of adventure start to reawaken. Enjoy the freedom of the great outdoors, and if you have pets, why not bring them with you? Your dog needs to get out of the house and smell new places, and honestly, there is no better travel companion than your dog!

Whether you fancy a stay, a hike, a visit to the beach or the nearest dog park, there is always something for people and their adventurous dogs in the UAE. You can take your dog on a safe, adventurous day trip this winter that will satisfy your dog's zoomies.

Here's a list of the most important things to pack for your four-legged friend when you buckle up and head out on a weekend adventure!

Hike

Head into the mountains and let the dogs be dogs, explore new terrain and challenge yourself in an adventure that will have both of you addicted to the great outdoors.

Gallop the rocky roads of the United Arab Emirates and weave your way up the mountain trails with your buddy. There's something for everyone and the ability to make it as adventurous or relaxing as you like, regardless of fitness level or dog breed.

The Shawka area, nestled between lunar-like Hajar Mountains, makes an ideal base for a relatively easy trekking adventure for you and your pup. Trekking in Wadi Shawka can last from a few hours to a full day. This hiking trail in the United Arab Emirates is suitable for most races and fitness levels, with space for picnics and overnight camping along the way.

Al-Rabi Tower, Khor Fakkan

The trail is well marked, but there are multiple routes to the summit (some easier than others). They have a height of 300m (more or less) so it will definitely be a good workout for you and your pup! Take it easy and take frequent breaks when your pup gets tired. And if you decide to give up, remember, the view is worth it!

Basics you will need:

A collar, harness and leash so your dog is always close by

A dog backpack for transporting food and supplies

A first aid kit for common mishaps

A portable water bottle

A poop bag dispenser

A pair of sturdy boots to keep their paws safe
